Emergency First Aid at Work

Fully Accredited and certified

1 Day, minimum 6 contact hours

Covers the essentials needed to respond to the most serious, life-threatening emergencies.

Content typically includes:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Basic casualty assessment
  • CPR and AED use
  • Choking
  • Bleeding and shock
  • Minor injuries (e.g., cuts, burns)

Optional bolt ons: 

  • Anaphylaxis
  • AED
  • Severe Bleeding

First Aid at Work

Fully Accredited and certified

3 Days, minimum 18 contact hours

A more comprehensive qualification covering a wider range of illnesses and injuries.

Includes everything in EFAW plus:

  • Fractures, sprains, and strains
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Burns and scalds (in more depth)
  • Poisoning
  • Major illnesses (e.g., heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, anaphylaxis)

Optional bolt ons: 

  • Anaphylaxis
  • AED
  • Severe Bleeding

 

First Aid at Work Requalification

Fully Accredited and certified

2 Days, minimum 12 contact hours

After 3 years, your First Aid at Work certificate will need to be renewed to remain valid.

This 2-day requalification course covers the full FAW syllabus, but in a shorter time frame, designed for those who already hold a valid certificate. 

It allows you to:

  • Refresh and update your knowledge of first aid best practice
  • Revisit key practical skills such as CPR, AED use, and managing emergencies
  • Stay current with any changes to legislation, protocols, or recommended techniques

Paediatric First Aid

Fully Accredited or non accredited options available

2 Day, minimum 12 contact hours

This two-day course provides the essential CPR and first aid skills needed to care for babies and children, whose needs differ from adults.

Ideal for anyone over 16 who works with or looks after children, the course is accredited by the RLSS UK and leads to a Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Content includes:

  • Infant & child CPR, AED use, choking, and unresponsiveness
  • Bleeding, shock, wounds, fractures, burns, and head injuries
  • Poisoning, bites, stings, and effects of heat or cold
  • Managing chronic conditions & sudden illnesses (asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, anaphylaxis)
  • Recognising meningitis, sepsis, and other serious childhood illnesses

Basic First Aid

Non Accredited 

Anything from a few hours to a full day of training 

 

Basic first aid is a non accredited option which can cover the specific elements you need for your circumstances.

Annual Refreshers

Non Accredited

Half-day, 3 contact hours 

Online option available through the RLSS

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly advises that individuals holding First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualifications complete an annual, half-day (3 hour) refresher training session. 

Although not mandatory, the refresher training will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.

Save A Life Series

We can also offer 3 options from the Save A Life Series, focussing on essential life saving skills in an emergency.

These are non accredited, short drop in style workshops that can be free or donation based and are for members of the public to learn the most essential skills.

Save a Babys Life

Save a Baby’s Life’ workshops aim to teach basic emergency skills to anyone who cares for a baby.

You will learn

  • Infant Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • How to manage an infant who is choking
  • Prevention and treatment of drowning in infants

Save a Childs Life

‘Save a Child’s Life’ workshops teach those who care for a child and what to do in an emergency and equip them with basic first aid skills.

You will learn

  • Child Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • How to manage a child who is choking
  • Prevention and treatment of drowning in children

 

Save an Adults Life

Save an Adult’s life workshops teach local communities what to do in an emergency and equip them with the skills to help adults who have stopped breathing, are choking or have suffered a heart attack.

You will learn

  • Adult Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • How to manage an adult who is choking 
  • Prevention and treatment of drowning in adults

They are regulated by Ofqual and quality-assured by CIMSPA. RLSS UK is an active member of the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) whose remit is to collaborate on best practice and maintain quality to ensure the integrity and currency of regulated qualifications.
